Mission
Rooted in our abiding belief in Black power, possibility, and sovereignty, The Shabazz Center facilitates thought exchange around racial equity, justice, and cultural production, in the spirit of Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz. Through both global and local outreach, educational programming and engagement with the African Diaspora, The Shabazz Center is a generative, action-oriented community organization, committed to growing social movements that empower and prepare people for leadership in civil society.

Annual Commemoration - The 59th anniversary of Malcolm X's martyrdom was commemorated this year. Dr. Angela Davis and lawyer Ben Crump gave inspiring speeches on the unwavering conviction of Malcolm X, while trumpeter Keyon Harrold and poet Jessica Care Moore performed moving tributes. Over 300 people attended the commemoration at the center, and over 1,000 people online.
Community Usage - The Shabazz Center offers affordable rental options for various community activities, complementing its existing programs. This allows local residents and groups to host events, meetings, and gatherings in a supportive and accessible environment.
