The Mama Glow Foundation + Montefiore Trauma-Informed Program is a groundbreaking initiative designed to address trauma and healthcare disparities in birthing communities, particularly in the South Bronx. Through a partnership with Montefiore Einstein Medical Center and the Bronx Health Collective, this program provides pro-bono doula services to vulnerable populations, including undocumented and asylum-seeking families. By focusing on trauma-informed care, the initiative is committed to addressing the impact of structural racism on healthcare access and improving maternal and child health outcomes in high-need communities.
In partnership with Northwell Health, New York State???s largest healthcare provider, the MOMs (Maternal OutcoMes) Program aims to improve maternal health outcomes for high-risk birthing people through an integrated care approach. Funded by a National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant, this program will allow the Mama Glow Foundation to train Northwell Health staff as doulas, integrating doulas into the hospital???s care teams. The goal of this program is to improve both maternal health and maternal mental health outcomes by incorporating doulas into clinical care teams, providing holistic support for birthing people. Mama Glow???s partnership with Northwell Health also includes training nursing staff in the Mama Glow Professional Doula Training Program. This ensures that hospital staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills to provide trauma-informed, culturally competent care.
