Mission
MMHS is a private, not-for profit, education and research institution, operated for the benefit of the entire community, whose mission is to research topics, collect, preserve, interpret, and exhibit documents and objects that relate to the history of Mandarin and its people.
Programs
2 programs
School Programs: Each year elementary school children take part in field trips to the Mandarin Store, Post Office, and Walter Jones Historical Park. Museum Facility: Operated in partnership with City of Jacksonville. Exhibits include historic timeline, Maple Leaf shipwreck, Harriett B. Stowe and importance of African American history in the area. The COVID-19 pandemic has interrupted many programs - some events and displays have been rescheduled or canceled.
Group tours: MMHS facilities are open for informal tours. Museum docents lead group tours by appointment. Speakers Bureau: MMHS board members are called on regulary to speak to diverse community organizations about Mandarin History.
