At the beginning of every school year, the foundation asks the schools we support what things they need. Because there are high percentages of students from low income families attending the two elementary and two middle schools we chose to support, supplies for students are needed. In addition, we focus on literacy, so hundreds of books are secured from the Richmond, VA book bank at no cost to us for students to take home. In addition, we purchase hundreds of titles are requested by schools for classroom libraries and for students to own.. Members of the foundation purchase the books and school supplies (we label the books) and then the items are delivered to the schools (photos are taken and a representative number are included in our newsletter that is distributed to donors and available for viewing on our website). Also, as requested, we physically and financially support school projects such as fairs, teacher appreciation programs, food banks, etc. We have had parties for students as a reward for reading X number of books.
