Exhibitions, educational programs, and preservation of collections - these vital services fulfill the museum's mission. Maryhill is the only fine art museum in the central pacific northwest. Founded in 1940, it is accredited by the american alliance of museums and serves 549,495 people across seven rural counties in washington and oregon. The museums collection of over 18,000 objects spans american and european fine and decorative arts primarily from the 17th to the 21st century, indigenous american art, an exceptional selection of 80+ sculptures and watercolors by auguste rodin, fashion, contemporary sculpture, and other works from america and around the world. Our strategic plan guides additions and updates to our permanent exhibitions and displays, and we bring works of art from other places to enhance and add to the permanent exhibitions. The museum's collection is shared in exhibitions at the museum, with researchers, and with other museum institutions.educational programs are the heart of our mission and the museum hosts field trips throughout the year for k-12 and college groups. We subsidize field trips costs as needed to remove barriers to visiting, prioritizing title i schools in the region. Museum educators provide & update classroom curriculum resources to meet state standards with a steam focus and offer an annual professional development program. Formal educational programs are complimented by public programs which bring performers, artists, historians, and writers to inspire and educate all visitors.in 2024, maryhill museum of art made significant updates to the indigenous peoples of north america permanent gallery that reflect its commitment to showing contemporary native art, acting on feedback from local tribal councils, and displaying recent acquisitions to the collection with a multimedia approach. The museum also acquired several items within its expanded collection focus of traditional textiles from central america. New programs included a monthly wapaas basket weaving workshop led by an indigenous facilitator and a venue for the in a landscape-classical music in the wild concert series.

Gardens the museum campus spans nearly 29 acres and includes the william and catherine dickson sculpture park, the lewis and clark overlook and garden, and the cannon power plaza and river walk. The gardens are used for diverse programs including an annual starry night astronomy camping event, an annual concours de maryhill automobile event, field trips, concerts, and other special programs. Additionally, the gardens and grounds provide visitors spaces to picnic, walk and enjoy public sculpture and nature. In 2023, the museum installed ada-compliant walking paths that connect the east, grand, and west lawns and enable access into and around the sculpture park for persons using wheelchairs and other mobility devices.
