Programs

Mdsc conducted interactive and recreational activities, including educational games and trivia, to engage members, encourage learning, and foster social connections within the deaf and deafblind senior community.
Mdsc hosted a town hall meeting attended by the maryland department of aging director and key staff to provide a platform for deaf and deafblind members to share their experiences and concerns. Participants highlighted challenges with interpreter access, video remote interpreting, and communication with service providers; limited awareness and availability of state resources; poor living conditions, social isolation, and inadequate accessibility in care facilities; insufficient results from advocacy and ombudsman services; and unmet rehabilitation and healthcare needs. This program advanced mdscs mission by raising awareness of critical issues, informing policy discussions, and promoting solutions to improve the quality of life for deaf and deafblind seniors in maryland.
