Economic competitiveness:the goal of the economic competitiveness committee is to advance programs and policies that strengthen underpinnings of the massachusetts economy. The committee focuses on promoting and ensuring that massachusetts is a competitive place to own and operate a business by monitoring and engaging on issues that impact the cost of doing business in the state. Likewise, the committee promotes small businesses across the commonwealth through targeted efforts in technical assistance and access to capital, supply chain, and expanding markets. Additionally, the committee works to identify and support policies and programs that increase access to housing that the massachusetts workforce can afford. The committee also had a focused effort on massachusetts' seven regional economies to ensure their vibrancy and their contribution to the overall health of the commonwealth.
Opportunities for all:the opportunities for all committee's goal is to make massachusetts an even more welcoming state and ensure that all people are included and have opportunities to succeed. The committee works to promote initiatives that remove barriers and provide greater opportunity for individuals from underrepresented groups, particularly women and people of color, to achieve their fullest potential. Likewise, the committee is focused on elevating the participation and leadership of women and people of color in the workforce, in start-ups and small businesses, and in c-suites and board rooms. The committee works to encourage a more inclusive, engaged, and informed discourse that leads to better public policy, and a stronger massachusetts.
Environmental sustainability: the goal of the sustainability committee is to foster sustainability and create a resilient and economically prosperous future by driving innovation, collaboration, and transformative action. The committee aims to achieve this goal through leveraging and maximizing investment towards decarbonization; fostering a competitive climate innovation economy; and focusing on reliability and resiliency. The committee works to advocate for the efficient use of resources & implementation of new technology to foster a stable and healthy environment for businesses and communities to thrive in the long-term.
Innovation economy:the innovation economy committee's goal is to enhance the position of massachusetts as a global leader in innovation and technology. The committee identifies, supports, and promotes programs that educate, attract and retain the world's top talent to deepen and broaden massachusetts' innovation and technology ecosystem. The committee also works to support the innovation and startup ecosystem with targeted programs to assist founders and new companies, including increased access to resources and capital. Finally, the committee works to support research, feasibility and scoping of emerging clusters and sectors, as well as support for established industries, to ensure that massachusetts remains on the forefront of innovation.
