Mission
The Mecox Bay Conservancy (MBC) is a not-for-profit corporation that serves as a steward and watchdog organization for Mecox Bay. MBC works with marine biologists and other experts to further our understanding of the marine ecosystem of the bay and to develop and implement strategies to improve its water quality. Simply put, The Mecox Bay Conservancys goal is to restore the water quality of the bay to the highest levels of purity for both marine life and those who enjoy its waters for swimming, fishing and other recreational activities. Contaminant reduction strategies may include: Permeable Reactive Barriers (PRBs), Biofilters, storm drain retrofits, better control of farm runoff, increased flushing, aeration, nitrogen reducing sanitary systems and reduction of fertilizer and pesticide use on residential properties.
