Mission
Organized in 1876, the Meigs County Pioneer and Historical Society was established to preserve the history and relics of Meigs County, Ohio. The organization continues to honor that early vision of protecting and sharing the regions past with future generations.
Programs

Storing early probate records and geneology services are two additional tasks this organization has been entrusted with. The Meigs museum houses the Societys library as well as early probate records from 1829 to the 1960s (before the digital age). The museum publishes histories, genealogical research and other books of local and regional historical interest. Genealogical research assistance is provided as well as family history workshops.
This organization strives to keep the museum open for the public to utilize and enjoy by providing the following services/activities: Educates the public about the history of Meigs County through exhibits, special programs, tours and events. Provides assistance with historical projects and research. Offers Activities for children with crafts, games, and other events. Works closely with the University of Rio Grande, Ohio University, Ohio History Connections, the Ohio Historic Preservation Office and other organizations on historical issues/topics/events.
