Senior visitors: rates of suicide remain high among older adults, and major depression is the leading indicator of possible suicide. As an intervention, vetted volunteers provide companionship to older adults who are isolated and lonely, which are the two leading risk factors for depression.
Helpline: mhafred continually contacts local mental health providers to obtain current information about insurance accepted, services offered, and if they are accepting new clients. This information is maintained in a searchable database available on mhafred's website, or for personal assistance, people can contact mhafred staff for help.
Support services: services include peer-led support groups for adults and clinician-led groups for children. Further, mhafred facilitates partnerships to increase community resources that address behavioral health.
