Advocacy - at its inception, the association's initial focus was mental health advocacy and for the last 65 years, their advocacy efforts continued to be developed to raise awareness of the rights of individuals with mental health/co-occurring challenges and to reduce the effects of discrimination and stigma.the association's advocacy programs benefit:- adults with mental health/co-occurring challenges and their families that have questions and concerns about behavioral health treatment, patient rights, housing issues, securing entitlements, welfare benefits, employment issues, or other community support systems.- families in need of information about the individuals with disabilities education act (idea), help with finding resources, and/or special educational needs and concerns.- individuals and families that need support when filing behavioral health complaints and grievances.- beaver county system of care by reporting areas of satisfaction and concerns.
