Food access - mifma works to ensure that all consumers have access to the food and farm products that are sold at community driven marketplaces in michigan. To achieve this goal, we support farmers and markets in accepting benefits from the snap, wic, and farmers market nutrition federal food assistance programs and support statewide implementation of a nutrition incentive program called double up food bucks. In 2024, more than 160 farmers markets accepted snap and more than 200 locations in michigan participated in double up food bucks.
Produce prescription - mifma provides technical assistance for produce prescription program operators in michigan and oversees a statewide learning network, steering committee, and participant advisory council with the intention to establish sustainable statewide funding pathways for these programs in michigan.
