Mid michigan community action guides local residents on the path to self-sufficiency through empowerment, education and community enrichment.
Programs

Housing support includes a variety of programs focused on helping customes obtain, maintain, and stabilize their housing situation. In fy2024, mid michigan community action helped 86 households with emergency shelter, 177 households (including 71 veterans) with obtaining safe and affordable housing, 211 households and 437 people through homeless services, including rapid rehousing, 751 with utility assistance, 227 households with financial assistance to avoid foreclosure or eviction (including 29 veterans).
Weatherization provides home energy efficiency improvements to eligible households. In fy2024, mid michigan community action provided weatherization services to 190 homes including 133 homes with senior citizens, 100 homes with a person with a disability, and 46 homes with children under 18. On average, $8,028 was invested per home to make it safer, more energy efficient, and more comfortable.
Mid michigan community action provides nutrition assistance support for children and families through the women, infants, and children program (children 0-5 years and pregnant women), commodity supplemental food program (seniors), and the emergency food assistance program. In fy2024, 1,182,092 pounds of food was distributed households in need, with 37,107 food boxes distributed to low-income seniors. 1,442 individuals were enrolled and received wic services.
