Grants for education - grants are paid as scholarships to colleges, universities and career development course providers to assist employees with the financial costs associated with career development and advanced education for classroom teaching. Scholarships are also awarded by approved application for students who plan to pursue degrees in education and for top academic scholars in the current graduating class based on class grade point ranking. Grants and scholarships per person are capped at an annual budget limit set by the board of directors. Teachers and employees receiving scholarships are required to report on the progress of their pursuit of an advanced education.
Designated grants - grants are for specific projects to meet an education goal or need by the school district by providing funding not available through traditional local, state or federal sources. Projects receiving grant funding are typically based on a collaboration of misd teachers and administrators, foundation board of directors and community and business leaders.
