School assemblies: mikayla's voice delivers school-wide assemblies, where we share the book our friend mikayla, and are joined by a co-presenter (student or young adult with a disability) who also shares their personal story. We encourage all questions, providing honest answers and further discussion about having a friend with a disability. Each presentation concludes with an invitation for all students to serve as mikayla's "voice."middle and high school mentor program:when we deliver our program in jr. & sr. High schools, we encourage staff to allow students to become mentors to the younger students within their district. Mentors use our books and enrichment website to share mikayla's voice mission through reading one of our four books and completing enrichment activities. Our philosophy has always been to inspire and empower children and young adults to include everyone and teach others to do the same.
"tri for inclusion" is a priceless opportunity for children and adults of all abilities to race side-by -side in something they had not likely dreamed possible -compete in a usat sanctioned triathlon. Individuals or teams sign up to swim, bike and run or to be part of a relay team. Their efforts show our entire community that there is always a way to include everyone, even in a challenging sporting event.
