Milkworks provides individual consultations to mothers and babies to assist with breastfeeding. Appointments can be made with board-certified (ibclc) lactation consultants or with the breastfeeding medicine specialist (md). Milkworks coordinates with major insurers and medicaid but many insurers do not cover the full cost of the consultations.

Milkworks offers various classes to expectant and new mothers about the basics of breastfeeding and the health benefits. Support groups and educational materials are available free of charge. Milkworks serves as a resource for the entire community including other healthcare providers, parents, nursing and dietetic students, high school students, family members, employers, and social service agencies.
