Increase agriculture literacy through K-12 education by incorporating standards based curriculum, resources, regional curriculum specialists and outreach, professional development for educators, virtual field trips for classrooms, and Farm Camp immersive experiences for classroooms, including career lessons.

Resource Specialists: Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom provides many resources to K-12 educators across the state with a vision that agriculture is valued by all. Resources include curriculum, free print pieces, teacher tours, grants and more. Resource Specialists provide training, support, and work to engage educators in the consistent use of MAITC offerings. Resource Specialists are positioned across the state to reach educators in all 87 counties.

Farm Camp Minnesota: Farm Camp Minnesota serves as a connector of the classroom to agricultural experiences reaching students grades 5-12. To increase agricultural literacy through engaging experiences that allow students to personally interact with agriculture and meet the many faces behind the production of food, fiber, fuel and natural resources. Farm Camp Minnesota is a three part immersive experience customized for classrooms, include lessons based on agriculture, a visit tour with farm industry representatives, and ag career tour lessons and exploration.

Outreach Programs: Outreach Programs have been implemented to increase agricultural literacy through K-12 education. This is accomplished by implementing a variety of programs including standards based curriculum, resources, professional development for educators, and virtual field trips.

Agriculture Literacy Grants: Grants and awards were awarded to teachers or schools for special Agricultural Literacy projects not otherwise feasible given tight school district budgets. Teachers can apply for first year grants and/or agricultural literacy grants for classroom enhancements.
