The mission of the missouri-kansas-nebraska (mkn) chapter of the educational opportunity association is to: provide professional development and resources to its members; provide assistance to income-eligible, first-generation, or under-represented students, students with disabilities, and veterans in their effort to gain access to succeed in post-secondary and graduate education; provide information regarding issues of equal access to higher education.

Heartland conference: professional development for individuals in post- secondary education to support disadvantaged students. The conference highlights include individual student research presentations, a graduate recruitment fair, speakers and panel discussions, a pre-conference workship on writing graduate admissions essays, and opportunites to interact with graduate school faculty and staff.
