Preservation and promotion of historical buildings and sites.the city of morland originally named fremont for john c fremont (the pathfinder) was incorporated in 1878. Morland and the surrounding area are rich in their historical sites, both man-made and natural. Mcf is active in its support or provisions of the following sites:1. Morland bank building (now a museum)(circa 1924).2. Studley (traditional english episcopal and methodist) church (circa 1910).3. Paleantological site (7,000,000 years old).4. Antelope lake (circa 1937) a wpa project.5. Penokee stone man (circa 1500) an archaeological site.6. Penokee green stone quarry (referred to as kansas opal).7. Cottonwood ranch-a state historic site (circa late 19th century).the aforementioned sites receive mcf's ongoing financial support and member volunteersism.
Heritage and culture preservation--hand-in-hand with the preservation of the historical buildings and sites, is the heritage and cultural preservation of morland and the surrounding community. As with the rest of western kansas, intertwined are the various indian cultures (paleo to present) and the adventured/expansionist of the west (mountain man to settlors). Support by mcf through education is primary and on-going. Education to the general public is in the form of archaelogical and paleontology digs, historical seminars, and educational lectures.
