Mission
Motherhood beyond bars ensures a healthy start for infants born to incarcerated women by providing a network of comprehensive support for mothers and caregivers. We support and strengthen families with the goal of longterm, healthy reunification and a permanent end to cycles of incarceration in families.
Programs
2 programs
Empowering family caregivers to support children, preventing their entry into the foster care system; and facilitating the safe reunification of mothers with their children post-incarceration.
In collaboration with harvard's t.h. Chan school of public health, we're researching the profound effects of incarceration on child wellbeing and advocating for transformative policy reforms. By 2022, our impact has encompassed serving 50 incarcerated mothers, supporting 65 mothers in reentry, and assisting 293 caregivers, infants, and children in households.
