Form 990 Part III Line 4b - As of 2021, MOTA has begun the drilling and installation of 15 solar powered artesian wells in 12 Huni Kuin villages and 1 Ashaninka village in the region of Carapana. Phase 1 and 2 of this project provide clean water access during the day(without the use of toxic batteries to prevent environmental pollution) to the villages of Segredo do Arteso, Morada Nova, gua Viva, Si Huni Kui, Cocameira, Goiana, Vista Alegre, Nova Vida, Carapan, Povo Junto, Mibay, Hu Karu and Primavera.Providing access to clean water has greatly improved the health of thesecommunities. Prior to the construction of wells, the majority of these villages had no access to clean water and drank in the winter from streams and cassimbas (shallowwater holes) and in the dry season from the river. Prior to the construction of wells, MOTA tested several water sources in several villages of the region of Carapana. Most water testing results showed high levels of bacterial and mild environmental contamination. Villages that were using water from the Tarauac and Igap rivers had many cases of diarrhea and skin issues. These villages reported continuous cases of children being ill. In 2019, one of the Huni territories lost 50 children to contaminated water. Additionally, there have been many accidents reported of women traveling far to fetch water or wash clothes in the river including deaths recorded in several Huni Kuin villages.Since the wells were installed, we have conducted 2 Impact assessments and 1 maintenance evaluation. The impact assessments were conducted through a series of meetings with key representatives of 11 out of the 13 villages where wells were built. Unanimously, womens representatives and mothers reported a considerable improvement in the quality of their lives due to reduced labor and a major reductionin illnesses and cases of diarrhea and vomiting amongst their children.

Form 990 Part III Line 4c - Program Service AccomplishmentsCentro Awavna was originally envisioned by Hushahus father Tuikuru. Concerned about the future of his people, he dreamt of building a school and a museum in the heart of the rainforest in the Rio Gregorio territory in Brazil. When Hushahu, after many years of spiritual study and working with her people began teaching around the world, she witnessed the healing power of the Yawanaw tradition but also became concerned about the future of her people and the rainforest. In 2021, she set out to realize her fathers dream with Centro Awavna.MOTA is supporting the Yawanaw People in building sustainable infrastructure for the Awavna Cultural Center. This center aims to preserve the Yawanaw culture and be a model of sustainability and food sovereignty for Indigenous communities. MOTA will support the Yawanaw by building 2 wells and 3 sanitation stations for the center.
