Mountain Strong-Yancey & Mitchell County Relief Team

Recovery network- financial assistance mountain strong's recovery network program was initially established to provide financial assistance to cover necessary living expeneses, including rent and utilities. The program accepted applications for assistance and nominations from yancey county and mitchell county's departments of social services, and other non-profit organizations with an interest in social welfare, including the toe river children's advocacy center. In total, the recovery network- financial assistance program gifted 45,500.00 to families and individuals impacted by hurricane helene which is included in the total gifts made in 2024.

Mountain strong holiday program the mountain strong holiday program was initiated to provide meals and gifts to those families in need, who otherwise may not have a place to congregate with family, and may not be able to afford christmas gifts for thier children. For both thanksgiving and christmas, mountain strong sponsored free meals including the food, supplies, and equipment necessary to serve the meals. Also included are tent rentals, kids craft tables, and gifts, inluding toys and gift cards. Gifts were purchased for several families with 3-5 children in each family. Additionally, mountain strong purchased gift cards from local businesses which were donated to a toy drive and toy distribution event at a local resturant where mountain strong team members volunteered.
