Mountain Top Wildlife

Wildlife rehabilitation:mountain top wildlife is licensed to rehabilitate small mammals, fawns, songbirds, and all raptors. 32 patients were received for rehabilitation. Of the patients accepted, 18 were released back to the wild (a 56% success rate). Some of the treated patients included two deer fawns, several different species of owls, migratory songbirds, and multiple litters of neonatal squirrels. Medical care provided included emergency triage, diagnostic work (including x-rays and bloodwork), suturing, orthopedic treatments and physiotherapy, medicating, hand-rearing and feeding, and providing mental enrichment for patients.

Wildlife education:mountain top wildlife presented at schools and community events, reaching more than 350 community members. Presentations included information about wildlife conservation, natural history of native wildlife, and promoting humane interactions with wildlife. The clinic's wildlife hotline fielded 397 calls and the rehabilitator on staff spent 1,154 minutes helping community members and law enforcement agencies with wildlife issues.
