CREWS: . The Community Resilience Early Warning System (CREWS) is an innovative data-driven analytic approach applied to prevent hate crimes, mass shootings and targeted violence by anticipating emerging geographic trends of concern, generating recommendations for need-based community prevention networks, and supporting the efficient reallocation of local and federal resources toward effective prevention programming. CREWS aggregates data from several sources, including reports of hate- and bias-related incidents; census block-level data; as well as open-source qualitative and quantitative data. CREWS does not collect or store personally identifiable information. The system uses data analysis and machine-learning techniques to understand patterns and determine emerging risk and protective factors in selected locations. Muflehun is working with selected city and county governments to apply this innovative approach for increased efficiency of utilizing local resources in developing local prevention frameworks.
