Educational programsmoca holds a unique place in the community as an educator through contemporary art. Moca offers curriculum enhancing standards-based school tours for k-12 students, both virtually and in-person, as well as a robust calendar of programming for college students and lifelong learners. Led by professional museum educators, moca's multi-faceted tour program emphasizes the development of critical thinking skills and fosters an appreciation of modern and contemporary art. Moca continues a commitment to bringing critical arts education to title i students throughout duval county. Additional education programming includes:- autism creates: this educational initiative is designed for children with autism spectrum disorders (asd) and other exceptionalities. Created in 2007, this innovative program and its results have been nationally recognized by museum associations and health care providers.- voice of the people: a proven, evidence-based semester-long, literacy intervention for students at title 1 schools focused on expository writing, critical thinking, and verbal presentation skills.- kids art lab: steam-focused art lessons led by professional art educators that provide a creative and inspiring environment for children.- art camp: moca's art camp offers creative art-making for ages 6-14 during the spring, summer, and winter breaks.

General museum founded in 1924, moca is the first organization in jacksonville dedicated to the visual arts. In 2003, moca opened the 60,000 square-foot museum, theater, and education space it now occupies in the heart of downtown jacksonville's urban core. In 2009, moca enhanced its commitment to providing the greater jacksonville area with the highest quality arts education when it became a cultural institute of the university of north florida, providing special lectures, college level art courses, direct museum experience for students, and special faculty and student exhibitions. Moca continues to be a cornerstone of jacksonville's downtown revitalization plan and a significant draw for tourists and visitors. A robust annual calendar of exhibitions and programming brings new and returning visitors to the civic core year-round.

Moca is committed to offering compelling opportunities to all audiences through robust, regular public programs and community outreach, including: exhibition openings, vystar free saturdays, florida blue free museum nights, guided tours, spring and fall family days, studio practice art workshops, a variety of lecture series, blue star military free access, and teen art council.
