Harris Theather Presents: Presenting Diverse Voices - In addition to the support we offer to our Resident Companies , our own Harris Theater Presents (HTP) series brings the highest caliber artists from every corner of the world to Chicago to tell stories of human experiences from a multitude of perspectives. Representing over 32 countries across six continents, HTP brings ambitious international projects, new commissions, and co-productions to the HT stage, the rooftop, the iconic Pritzker Pavilion, and the HT Virtual Stage. The 2023-24 20th Anniversary Season welcomed to the stage some of the most prolific artistic voices of our time and featured a diverse range of artists and genres from around the world. The Theater produced 27 HTP performances during the 2023-24 Season. Highlights included Akram Khan Companys long-awaited debut on the Harris stage with three performances of Jungle Book reimagined, a new work based on the much-lover story by Rudyard Kipling told through the eyes of a refugee child caught in a world devastated by climate change. Also performing at the Harris for the first time were the Los Angeles Master Chorale with Music to Accompany a Departure directed by Peter Sellars, and Black Grace, New Zealands leading contemporary dance company with their work, Paradise Rumour, which explores the systemic challenges and prejudices facing Pacific Islanders in New Zealand.The Mainstage series closed with the return of New York City Ballet to the Harris for the first time since their performance on the inaugural Harris Theater Presents season in 2006.

Community Engagement Programs: Generating Lasting Community Impact - Woven through each aspect of the Theaters work work are Community Engagement programs that ensure our multicultural programming reaches as many Chicago community members as possible. Our Mix at Six and Family Series break down barriers for patrons to experience the arts in an inclusive environment for all ages and abilities. Our free Arts Education Partnerships build pathways for youth to study the arts via internships, masterclasses, and artistic residency initiatives. We also partner with local community organizations to make programming accessible to patrons of all income levels through the Access Tickets program. Above all, our commitment to DEIA principles permeates our vision to make HT truly inclusive and accessible to our community. In addition to the two accessible concert series, HT provided nine free community engagement and educational activities throughout the 2023-24 Season, including a masterclass with dancers from the Akram Khan Company at Chicago High School for the Arts and an evening residency with Joseph Conyers for music students at the Merit School of Music and Chicago Musical Pathways Initiative. HT distributed 1,215 ree Access Tickets to Community Partner organizations during the season.
