Mission

To empower communities by harnessing the leadership of women and ensuring that they have the resources they need to affect change in their areas of passion.

Programs

2 programs

Sisterhood program: mwo believes in creating spaces where women can connect and find a non-judgemental and welcoming community. Our biggest sisterhood space is our mwo hub, where we host a variety of meetups like coffee mornings, heartwork gatherings, and tea times. All of these events are meant to create opportunities for women to connect and feel less alone in a world where they are often marginalized.

Expenses: $32K

Awareness & training program: spreading awareness about the issues impacting the wellbeing of muslim women through online and in-person discussions and workshops. Awareness initiatives include monthly womens health matters discussions, the womens safety coalition and its town hall conversations. They also include real talk discussions and podcast episodes about relevant topics, centered on building the power and leadership of muslim women as nonprofit and business leaders in the local community. Training initiatives include our signature hakima training program helping women build skills to be emotional first responders to women in distress. Empower together networking meetups and gems toolbox trainings also provide opportunities for women to connect and support each other in their leadership.
