Mission
To protect and restore the mystic river, its tributaries and watershed lands for the benefit of present and future generations and to celebrate the value, importance and great beauty of these natural resources. Myrwa is protecting water quality, restoring important habitat, building climate resilience, transforming parks and paths, and inspiring youth and community members.
Programs
2 programs
Education and volunteer stewardship. Myrwa educates more than 2,000 youth through effective place-based programming in schools and after-school programs and engages 1,800 volunteers in cleaning up and caring for our parks.
Climate resiliency. Myrwa founded the resilient mystic collaborative in partnership with 20 municipal partners to develop regional projects that create healthier, and more climate resilient communities. The rmc communities have secured >50m earmarks and state grants to address stormwater flooding, urban heat islands and sea-level rise.
