Policing and overcriminalization of pregnancy - nacdl launched this effort to defend against the threat of pregnancy criminalization and those effected by the dobb's decision. This effort provides training, trial resources and support for defense attorneys representing those charged in these complex cases.

Early access to counsel in va - designed to examine the effects of providing those arrested on criminal charges with early and continuous access to counsel. Building upon national research demonstrating the harmful impacts of even brief periods of pretrial detention, as well as recognizing the important role counsel can play in the early stages of a case, the project uses a mixed methodology approach, highlighted by a randomized control trial to pilot providing early access to counsel, and a community education and engagement campaign.
