The mission of NAMI El Dorado County is to provide emotional support education and resources for families and individuals living with mental illness. Through community collaboration and education we advocate for a life of purpose quality and dignity one without discrimination for all people affected by mental illness.

Community Outreach NAMI El Dorado County maintains 25 literature kiosks throughout the county at locations such as libraries mental health facilities correctional facilities and emergency rooms. The brochures and pamphlets they contain serve as information resources on a wide variety of mental health topics for persons or families in crisis . Warm Line NAMI El Dorado County volunteers staff an informational telephone line which provides callers the ability to obtain information learn about resources and discuss concerns with a live person. Services are provided in English or Spanish at no charge to the caller. Website NAMI El Dorado County maintains a website which is as a gateway to its services and programs. It has links to a variety of local and national resources for mental health and is a robust source of educational material related to mental health.

Family-to-Family NAMI Family-to-Family is a class for families significant others and friends of people with mental health conditions. Designated as an evidence-based program by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration it facilitates a better understanding of mental health conditions increases coping skills and empowers participants to become advocates for their family members. It is peer-led; instructors receive specialized training but are family members of persons with serious mental illness. This course consists of eight three-hour sessions and includes a binder of course materials which serve as a reference and resource guide after its conclusion. There is no charge to attendees.

Family Support Group NAMI Family Support Group is a peer-led support group for any adult with a loved one who has experienced symptoms of a mental health condition. Participants gain insight from the challenges and successes of others facing similar experiences. sessions follow a structured model ensuring everyone has an opportunity to be heard and to get what they need. Participants can learn about available local resources and benefit from the knowledge that they are not alone. A group serving the Western slope of El Dorado County meets once per month in Placerville CA and a group serving the Tahoe Basin meets monthly in South Lake Tahoe. There is no cost to participants.
