Mission
The Nansemond River Preservation Alliance NRPA is to work with local community citizen and leaders to engage in activities to preserve and improve our local environment including tidal wetlands shorelines water quality and marine life of our local watershed. We also prove a comprehensive environmental education program for students to become the next generation of local environmentalists.

Education Program- The Watershed Initiative NWI : Connecting the classroom with the Environment. Is a program provided since 2013 to all Suffolk Public Schools private schools and homeschool students in 3rd grade 7th grade and high school to educate and encourage them to become the next generation of evironmental stewards. Activities include hands on exploration of nature critters science water testing STEM activities and field trips into nature parks and on the water. This program serves over 2,200 students annually.
