Sucap provides assessment and referral services to public assistance clients who may have substance abuse related barriers to work and wellness. Program staff link individuals to chemical dependence treatment and also review progress to assist them in recovery, leading to self-sufficiency. Sucap has conducted more than 950,000 assessments in support of new york city's welfare reform initiative.
Project ace is an intensive, employment-focused case management program that helps more than 1,000 new york city residents annually. Staff conduct comprehensive client assessments and develop and implement person-centered, individualized service plans. By addressing housing, substance use and mental health disorders, health care needs and legal barriers, project ace helps clients move toward economic independence and self-suffieiency.
Nassau county comprehensive employment services provides customized services including job preparation, placement, retention and career advancement services for public assistance recipients seeking to enter or return to the job market. In-person assistor (ipa)/navigator program provides in-person enrollment assistance to individuals, families, small businesses and their employees seeking help applying for health insurance through the marketplace. The program is designed to meet the needs of new yorkers by providing assistance in community-based locations, available at convenient times, including evenings and weekends, no cost to enrollees. Comprehensive employment services (ces) provides customized services for people with chemical dependency, ex-offenders and individuals with co-occurring disorders. All participants receive comprehensive vocational assessments, job preparation and employme retention services. Ces works closely with nyc businesses and industries to develop job opportunities for their participants. The nassau employment initiative, funded by otda, provides case management, career counseling, job readiness, employment supports and job placement for individuals who have been diagnosed with hiv/aids. Adult career and continuing education services - vocational rehabilitation (access-vr) provides individuals with disabilities in new york city with a continuum of employment assistance that includes comprehensive assessment and case management services, job readiness and work preparation workshops, targeted job development, direct job placement and long-term retention services. The city council program provides individualized housing placement services to adults with histories of legal involvement and addiction who are at risk for homelessness. Job development and peer support services were also provided to clients in the comprehensive employment program to assist with employment and retention. The technical assistance & professional training program teaches workforce development professionals in substance abuse treatment programs throughout the state of new york, how to prepare clients for employment. The program offers customized in-service training, consultation, assessment of services and resources for optimizing employment outcomes. The program also provides training to professionals on vocational rehabilitation services best practices.
