Direct training involved hosting focus groups with aging veterans, which helped us identify gaps in the system, highlighting that aging veterans experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity are a distinct subgroup at the intersection of three systems: Veteran, Homelessness, and Aging. Developed a series of self-paced learning modules hosted on nchv.org to educate the public and members about veteran homelessness.
Legislative advocacy - we actively engage with Congress, the Executive Branch, and federal agencies to advance policies that address the root causes of veteran homelessness and expand support systems. We also created a congressional site visit guide and advocacy toolkit to help members better engage with lawmakers. Our advocacy efforts aim to ensure long-term, systemic change that benefits veterans across the nation.
