Mission

Help children develop discipline, a standard of excellence, and a belief in themselves that will carry over into all aspects of their lives.

Programs

3 programs

Residency - serving 3,060 individuals. Program implemented in one- to three-week sessions as well as through virtual or pre-recorded programming in 44 schools in rural communities, native american pueblos and reservations. Ndi-nm partners with public schools to provide energetic, engaging dance classes to students during the regular school day. A certified instructor and a professional pianist teach each class. At the end of the program, students celebrate their successes through high-quality theatrical performances or assemblies. All programs are free of charge to students. Schools pay a small fee. Four residency programs include an advanced training component for students wishing to advance their skills and experience.

Expenses: $703K

Advanced training programs - serving 1,412 individuals. These programs include after-school and summer programs in which children are offered the chance to attend technique dance, theater, and voice classes regardless of their ability to pay. Classes are offered in ballet, tap, jazz, modern dance, hip-hop, voice and acting. They are open to all children in the community and are offered on a sliding-scale tuition basis. Professional evaluations show these students score an average of one letter grade higher than their peers on math, reading and science exams.

Expenses: $2.0M

Other programs - train the trainer and snack curriculum are delivered to classroom teachers through the state to share our materials and methodology for incorporating movement, health, and nutrition concepts into the classroom. Teaching excellence workshops educate instructors in the proven educational methodology of ndi-nm. Our new early childhood outreach programs serve pre-k and kindergarten classes with 4- to 8-week programs, as well as with additional workshops for pre-k teachers to learn how to incorporate our early childhood curriculum into their classrooms. Hip to be fit is a program that focuses onthe health benefits of exercise and healthy eating and is woven into the experience of our outreach and residency classes. In addition, evaluation expenses are included with each program. (630 students are served through other programs)
