COMMUNITY-BASED SELF-HELP EFFORTS: NEJA issued grants for community organizations for disaster relief, legal and medical advocacy, education and information and justice for low-income, often essential workers and to aid self-help efforts expand their emergency and supplemental food, utility advocacy benefits, with community reconstruction to aid communities in keeping healthy.
NEJA assists in publicizing precedent-setting struggles for justice on a national scale and enlists individuals and groups of clergy, attorneys, civil rights activists and others to apply their skills and give of their resources to benefit those efforts. NEJA has established an equal justice leadership training academy to provide training and education in organizing skills to representatives of community-based organizations, students and professionals.
