Programs
3 programs
Producers in residence : for over a decade, nnpn's producer in residence program has supported season-long residencies at nnpn core member theaters for those committed to furthering their career efforts toward the creation and production of new plays. While immersed in the day-to-day operations of their host theater, residents learn about nnpn's successful models for collaboration, deepen their connections to the artists and leaders of the network, and increase their visibility within the field.
New play exchange (npx): nnpn's new play exchange is the world's largest online library of scripts by living writers - npx's 30,000 international subscribers can search from its 60,000+ works for the one that's "just right" for their reading or production, and its platform for colleges and universities gives more than 2 million students worldwide access to npx. The income generated by npx has allowed nnpn to double its budget, increase its staff by more than 200% and provide services to a wider range of theaters, artists, and audiences. 2025 will see the launch of a much-anticipated platform for actors, which will continue to revolutionize the database.
Other programs - including:showcase : last spring nnpn's annual national showcase of new plays welcomed more than 200 new play theater-makers from across the us to share in three days of seeing new works, sharing best practices, and making plans for future collaborations.collaboration fund: since 2010, nnpn has encouraged innovative, pioneering, project-based partnerships among theaters in support of playwrights through its collaboration fund. To address the many different ways theater companies work together and with playwrights to develop and produce new work, the program hasexpanded over the years to fund a wide range of collaborative endeavors.venturous: nnpn/venturous production pipeline awards, funded by a generous grant from venturous theater fund, give up to $25,000 to projects proposed by an nnpn core member theater working with at least one other nnpn member theater that support production-oriented endeavors for a new play that is "venturous" - - ambitious in scale, epic in scope, challenging in form, controversial in subject matter, experimental in concept, and/or unabashed in their theatricality and, because of their nature, have needs greater than the current awards provided by nnpn's existing collaboration fund.
