The national preservation institute educates those involved in the management, preservation and stewardship of cultural heritage.

Dod cooperative agreement. Npi signed a five-year cooperative agreement with the department of defense in 2023 to work on the legacy resource management program national historic preservation act section 110 surveys project. Funding is determined annually; the total project budget as initially planned was for 13,500,000, with potential for additional funding. Npi contracts out to survey architecture and archaeology sites on military installations around the country for all dod services.
