Mobilizes people of faith to end torture in u.s. Policy, practice and culture.

Programs

2 programs

Human rights and national security programs - since its establishment in 2006, nrcat has played a significant role in working to stop the post-9/11 torture of detainees by the u.s. Government, while subsequently educating and advocating to ensure that the country will never engage in the torture of detainees during interrogations again. Nrcat's work in this program area includes confronting islamophobia by working towards one of its organizational goals of ending the bigotry and hatred that promotes the practice and acceptance of torture against religious, ethnic, and other targeted groups. It also includes pushing for an end to indefinite imprisonment of the men held at the detention center at guantanamo bay, along with calling for a closure to the detention center.

Expenses: $407K

Lobbying - nrcat engages in grassroots and direct lobbying in the prevention of torture and limiting the use of solitary confinement.
