National Society Of The Daughters Of The American Revolution

Genealogy and research: the national society daughters of the american revolution (nsdar) maintains research and an extensive genealogical library. The library contains approximately 225,000 volumes, as well as many unpublished genealogy typescripts not available elsewhere. The library is open to members and non-members.

A. Nsdar makes contributions to dar-approved schools, many of which are located in appalachia. The dar marian anderson legacy scholarship is awarded to a student pursuing undergraduate or graduate study in music.nsdar also awards scholorships in: (1) political science, (2) history,(3) government, (4) economics, (5) business law, (6) chemistry, (7) nursing, and (8) occupational therapy. Nsdar also publishes american spirit magazine, a bimonthly magazinefocusing on american history, historic preservation, patriotism, and education.

Board projects: this program includes activities targeted for action by the president general. The most recent project involves the ongoing preservation, restoration and improvement of the nsdar complex of historic buildings and the collections therein, supporting chapters, advancing dar's technological capabilities in support of its mission, funding community grants for historic preservation, education, and patriotism, and improving nsdar's financial stability through promotion of established programs.
