The Sons of the American Revolution are direct descendants of patriots who achieved the independence of the American People. The objectives of our organization are intended to perpetuate a more profound reverence for the principles of the government founded by our forefathers and to reward individuals and organizations that promote history and patriotism.

Programs

Organization and promotion of the publics awareness of our Societys goals by providing historical information about the Revolutionary War and Revolutionary themes by organizing and delivering programs that are open to the public that honor our Revolutionary Patriots and the locations of significant Revolutionary events in Connecticut. Efforts include Historic Sites and Celebration efforts, the CTSSAR Color Guard, promotional materials, and event organization expenses

The Connecticut Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (CTSSAR) sponsors annual awards that recognize patriotism, leadership, and dedication to the study of the founding principles, figures, and historical events of the American Revolution by students, educators, and the general public. Awards encourage civic responsibility and duty, creative and effective teaching practices in classrooms, and a deeper understanding of the complicated issues surrounding the war for American Independence. The CTSSAR awards scholarships to Eagle Scouts, ROTC Leaders, USCG Leaders, Public Speakers (Oration Contests), Writing Skills (Essay Contests), all to supports excellence in a youthful generation. Flag awards and public service awards are also available to promote patriotism among the general public.
