National Womens History Museum

America 250: in june 2024, the national women's history museum was selected as the national resource partner for women's history for our country's upcoming semiquincentennial. As a national resource partner, the museum will help amplify and share the history that women have contributed to over the last 250 years of our nation's history. The museum plans to launch a unifying campaign in march 2025 to bring together organizations that support women and girls ahead of the july 2026 commemoration. The museum will also sponsor its own individual projects for this commemoration, including re-launching the research for the "where are the women?" report as well as a project capturing women's living stories for the ameria 250 pillar called "our american project."

Exhibitions: from march 2023 through september 2024 the museum showcased its first physical exhibition, "we who believe in freedom" at the mlk library in washington, d.c. The effort was led by a team of leading scholars and historians as curators who collaborated with world-class design, award-winning interactive display and highly regarded museum display fabrication firms. The timely, visually exciting, engaging and educational exhibition, "we who believe in freedom: black feminist d.c." traced black feminism in washington, dc from the turn of the 20th century through civil rights to today, highlighting the role black feminism in d.c. Played in shaping black feminist thought. This groundbreaking undertaking resulted in six (6) awards including a the muse award for experiential & immersive exhibition experience. In 2024, the museum received a planning grant from the lilly foundation to develop an exhibit called "faith and freedom," to illuminate the profound influence of faith and religion on american women. This exhibit concept received full funding from the lilly foundation in december 2024 and is now under development.

American women's quarters: in 2020 the museum entered a multi-year partnership with the u.s. Mint and the smithsonian institution american women's history initiative to highlight the american women's quarters program. The coins first went into circulation in january 2022. Each quarter was supported by educational programming at local museums, schools, and other venues around the country. The museum supported the sharing of stories of these accomplished women through classroom-ready materials available online and special events.
