Programs
1 program
Policy programthe policy program advocates progressive policies that strengthen and expand media assets serving tribal communities. Our work is rooted in community engagement, ensuring broadcasting remains a democratic and locally driven medium. Key initiatives under the policy program include:1. Assisting tribes in licensing broadcast facilities: we provide guidance and support to tribal governments and entities seeking to navigate the fcc licensing process for securing broadcast facilities. This support is essential for empowering tribes to establish their own media platforms.2. Supporting tribal communications policies: npm actively engages in public policy education that promotes partnerships, consultation, fellowships, and infrastructure development for tribal communications and telecommunications. By facilitating community discourse, npm creates a robust framework that supports native media operations and the use of broadcast assets that serve tribal communities through an understanding of policymaking and regulatory processes.
