Programs
4 programs
Trade magazine, member newsletters, and radio reports: mission is to inform and educate membership and potential members on current news, issues, production practices, laws and regulations via print media and email. There were approximately 14,750 magazines mailed 10 times; 3,000 e-newsletters emailed; and 52 radio reports aired.
Market reporting service; mission is to provide subscribers (also must be members) the most up-to-date data comprised of cattle sold to buyers (# of head, amount per head, and location). There were approximately 150 subscribers.
Nbis - nebraska beef industry scholars - a program whereby nc staff meet with senior level college students at unl and teach them how to put on a one day conference. Under nc's guidance, students learn and are responsible for planning content, finding speakers, soliciting sponsorships, setting up the agenda, registration and all the activities the day of the summit. Nc handles all cash in and out of the summit and net proceeds are given to unl to help cover the costs of the nbis students' trip to the ncba convention in february. 11 students participated and there were 81 attendees
Leadership - ycc program is to inspire young producers to become leaders in the industry. State affiliates nominate young producers to attend this sponsored event. 10 individuals spend 3 days learning and touring various cattle industry steps from pasture to plate, as well as attend media training and legislative sessions. These individuals then return the following year for a more in-depth look at the legislative process. These groups meet periodically throughout the year to find ways to give back to their communities.
