Mission
It is the mission of neighborhood housing to provide and restore clean, affordable, single-family housing. The organization achieves this mission through its new housing program and through its home repair program.

Operation backyard - this minor home repair program provides materials and recruits volunteers to provide minor home repairs for low-income, senior, and disabled persons who own their own homes. In 2024, operation backyard served 172 families with 1,815 volunteers.
Workforce development - nhi serves as a construction skills development and employment partner for qualified youth selected by knoxville leadership foundation to participate in youth build. The goals of youth build are to provide program and project-based learning and occupational skills training to better prepare disadvantaged youth between the ages of 16 and 29 for career placement and achievement of academic credentials.
