Mission

New era creative space inc. (necs) is a community-based educational organization with the mission to develop creative educational programs that are inclusive and accessible to all, promote excellence, and empower youth and their families to work toward their highest potential. We offer classes that stimulate curiosity and foster joy, love of learning, and creative exploration in order to empower the next generation of visionary thinkers.

Programs

3 programs

Necs's school program provided after-school programming in every school in the peekskill city school district. These programs impacted approximately 430 youth and families and provided meaningful work for five teaching artists.

Expenses: $39K

Necs' organization program significantly impacted over 100 participants and offered meaningful employment opportunities for three teaching artists/instructors and teaching assistants. In 2023, we expanded our program at the peekskill housing authority community room at dunbar heights three days a week, offering visual art and introducing yoga and mindfulness. We served a healthy meal provided by second chance foods, available to students and their families at the end of each session. Necs was honored to be selected once again as a provider for the children's village. Its mission is "to help society's most vulnerable children to become educationally proficient, economically productive, and socially responsible members of their communities." the children's village believes that one strong adult relationship is a game changer for a child, particularly one in foster care. We appreciate the opportunity to impact a child's life for the better.

Expenses: $18K

As part of necs' partner program, our youth joined the westchester youth alliance for their thanksgiving service event. They assisted in preparing over 2000 holiday meals for 20 food pantries. Witnessing the passion and kindness of our youth in serving others emphasized the significance of instilling a sense of responsibility and molding young people into future leaders who appreciate the importance of contributing to their community. Peekskill regeneration farm and necs united to present a community day event. Through this collaboration, we aimed to highlight the vital role of feeding the community while cultivating environmental stewardship. The event featured a cooking demonstration by feeding westchester utilizing fresh garden produce, alongside engaging workshops on arts and crafts, seeding, and planting. Attendees enjoyed music, games, and a vibrant atmosphere, all in the spirit of fostering connection and spreading positivity in addition, necs offered numerous workshops and initiatives throughout the year, including a lighting workshop led by a professional filmmaker, healthy manhood training with a call to men, a monthly community yoga class open to all, and stress management workshops with the peekskill naacp. These additional endeavors provided diverse learning experiences and support to our students and the community.
