This funding comes to njcedv through a grant from the us department of justice, office of justice programs, office for victims of crime, and supports njcedv's legal representation project (lrp) in working with domestic violence advocates to provide legal representation to the most marginalized survivors. The lrp recruits and supports attorneys to provide trauma-informed representation for survivors, and directly supported the cost of legal representation for 61 survivors. Njcedv's legal team provided more than 300 units of technical assistance to attorneys to support their trauma-informed representation of survivors. The legal representation provided includes family matters such as divorce and custody, housing, and appeals. The lrp project works closely with local domestic violence agencies to ensure survivors receive holistic services throughout their representation, and beyond.
Rape prevention and education (rpe) funding comes to njcedv through the new jersey department of children and families and supports efforts to engage men and develop male leaders in gender-based violence prevention throughout new jersey. Njcedv provides training and ongoing technical assistance to male leaders, community partners and coaches. Njcedv developed community action groups led by community liaisons to provide gender-based violence prevention education and activities and to facilitate listening sessions to engage the community and assess needs, particularly those representing communities that have been marginalized. This initiative reduces risk factors and increases protective factors that prevent domestic and sexual violence.
