Mission
The mission of the new mexico alliance of health councils, as chartered in nm law and policy by hb 137, is: to improve the health of all new mexicans by supporting and strengthening county and tribal health councils, advocating for health equity, and by providing a strong voice for community and public health. This is accomplished through planning, leading community collaboration among agencies, public policy work, and sustainable system development.

The new mexico alliance of health councils (nmahc) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization supporting and advocating for new mexicos 42 health councils and their community partners. Nmahc's digital product + digital programs allocate additional funding to contract an it/programmer to focus on nmahc's digital priorities, which include but are not limited to upgrading share nm (statewide resource directory), revamp nmhac's website, implement an intranet or org-wide project management tool, lead the communications and learning hub (mighty networks), and lead the internal it,and google workspace needs. Marketing + communications for advocacy marketing and communications is central to both advocacy and fundraising efforts, the alliance implemented a marketing and communications strategic plan that has increased visibility of the meaningful work of health councils through local radio interviews, editorials, and podcasts, enhanced our community mobilizing for advocacy efforts and increased recognition of the impactful work of health councils and the alliance. Digital products the alliances digital product, share nm, is the most comprehensive statewide resource directory and a digital platform, providing access to over 14 thousand resources statewide. In 2024, we were able to provide navigational support to over 900 community members seeking specific needs. The alliance secured funding to improve the importing upload mechanism for updating the directory through our local partnerships. The alliance secured a 50,000 two-year contract from unite us, which will conclude at the end of 2025. These funds are allocated to cover operations, software, and it /programmer support to run sharenm and for tech troubleshooting. Digital programs key performance indicators for fy2024: increased click rate to the alliance website by 18k a 54% increase, the advocacy webpage is the most visited at 6 minutes social media reach, linkedin at 64k a 50% increase, fb at 8.2k at a 72% increase, instagram at 2k at a 69% rate 64k engaged via email campaigns, at a 26% increase 31 news features and 32 radio features mighty networks, a digital platform, has been designed and implemented to serve a centralized communications and learning hub in service of 42 county and tribal health councils. This serves as an efficient avenue for the alliance to deliver on its services and support to health councils in a more streamlined manner. This process and tool was informed by health councils as a critical need. The health council hub provides them with access to grant opportunities, training/ webinars, public health resources-data-guidelines, a general feed for health councils to share resources as well, a robust resource library and toolkits, events and advocacy calls to action, and it provides the ability to network/ collaborate with nearby or other health councils and chat individually. In 2024, the alliance successfully enlisted strong legislative backing that secured a 3m one-time-allocation for health councils, the first in 13 years and a 423% increase since 2010. This funding secured 109 health coucnil coordinator jobs in the public health sector in new mexico. The alliance is deeply grateful to its funding partners who make this work possible in service of 33 county and 10 tribal health councils and new mexicos public health sector and infrastructure, in service of communities statewide (tribal, urban, rural and frontier). Through critical partnerships the alliance team continues to fulfill its mission and deliverables in service of new mexicos health councils, for a healthy and thriving new mexico.
