Mission

New roots community farm is an 82 acre agricultural resource center that strives to enhance the viability of local farms, increases access to local food products for our community members, and engage people to learn about food system concepts in a space that is healthful, convenient, and attractive for present and future generations.

Programs

2 programs

Market development services: new roots engages in a market first approach to farmer support services. We aim to create new market opportunities for our region's farmers. We do this primarily from nrcf's brick and mortar farmers market which expands opportunities for producers to sell products year round.

Expenses: $125K

Community education and food access: through collaborative farm to school programming, nrcf works with the fayette county board of educations nutrition department to coordinate local procurement to increase the amount of healthy local food served to fcboe students, 88.9 percent of which qualify for free and reduced meals. Programs implemented to support this goal have included no-cost, pop-up farmers markets, hosting farm field trips for fayette county board of education students, and convening with partners, organizations, and individuals in the community to discuss food access and food security issues in our community.
