Mission

Newspaper in Education Institute was founded to work with Newspaper in Education (NIE) programs at newspapers across the country to help teachers improve students' literacy skills, standardized test scores, and critical thinking skills through the use of quality NIE curriculum resources and student supplements that support educational use of their local newspaper. As support for NIE programs at newspapers has declined due to the changing nature of the businesses involved, we continue to make these existing resources available to teachers but no longer collect subscription fees from newspapers to support this effort. Existing funds in this nonprofit have been redirected to support other nonprofit endeavors and to support environmental projects in the local community where we are located.
