Programs

"farm and produce. At the farm's annual spring seedling sale, a two-day event which this year welcomed around 700 attendees, we provided approximately 28,000 vegetable and flower seedlings grown on site. Snap benefits were accepted for vegetable seedlings. Ncf personnel, along with volunteers, provided gardening information and advice to customers. The event increases the farm's visibility in the community, brings people from the community together, and contributes revenue to support our operations. Revenue of $33,817 and expenses of $3,477.56 (for seeds and materials) are included in the totals for item 4a above.
"education programs and events. During 2024 newton community farm held an on-site presentation in conjunction with mass audubon about their snowy owl project, engaged with over 1,500 children and adults through classes, tours, activities and service-learning projects both on and off site, developed and piloted guided farm tours to engage visitors to the farm by highlighting innovative farming approaches and technology in use at the farm, and continued for the 12th year the farm's summer high school field crew intern program. Nominal expenditures for these programs are included in the totals for item 4a above."
